Meaningful work

Two days after I previously wrote about the purpose behind everything we do, I sat in a meeting where we discussed the importance of entrepreneurship and job creation. One person suggested that we should not only focus on job creation, but at creating meaningful jobs.

But when exactly is the work that you do meaningful?

Purpose: The “why” behind everything you do

Do you sometimes experience that an appeal is made on you to partake in, or attend a certain meeting or event that you are not super excited about? If you participate or get involved in something, is it to please somebody (your boss, your spouse, your friends/colleagues), or because you feel pressured to conform to the group, or because you want to?

Mission: How do I get there from here?

A traveller on a farm road asked a passer-by the directions to get to a certain farm. After thinking for a while the passer-by started to give directions and then stopped. He then told the driver that perhaps he should take another route and started to give new directions. Then he stopped again to reconsider and then gave directions for yet another route. When he stopped the third time the passer-by concluded with; ”Sir, I think you cannot drive to that farm from here.”
