There is an interesting workshop at Harvard Business School called Age of Options according to Bob Buford in his book Halftime. The purpose of this workshop is to ensure participants

that their next career phase is fulfilling and imbued with purpose.

Leaving a Legacy

While I was busy eating an apple this afternoon, I thought about the saying that it is not the number of seeds in an apple that is important, but

the number of apples in a seed.

The number of seeds in an apple is finite, but there are an infinite number of apples that can grow from one seed. In other words what is the potential hidden in that one seed? More favourable conditions will produce apples of better quality.

Mission: How do I get there from here?

A traveller on a farm road asked a passer-by the directions to get to a certain farm. After thinking for a while the passer-by started to give directions and then stopped. He then told the driver that perhaps he should take another route and started to give new directions. Then he stopped again to reconsider and then gave directions for yet another route. When he stopped the third time the passer-by concluded with; ”Sir, I think you cannot drive to that farm from here.”

Direction of your deeds

Say I have a business meeting in Bloemfontein next week Thursday; I should be fairly occupied with actions and preparations to get me there on time as well as prepared. Whether I go by plane or drive there does not matter, but my deeds will be directed towards going to Bloemfontein. That speaks of deeds with direction.
