One little privilege we now again have during the current phase 4 of lockdown, is that we are allowed to go for a walk between 6 and 9 am. I must say,
to me it is a welcome break from staying inside all day.

On Thursday 7 November 1918, D.W. Sutherland the Major of Kelowna in Canada had the following restrictive measures published in the newspaper: “Notice is hereby given that, in order to prevent the spread of Spanish Influenza, all schools, public and private, churches, theatres, moving picture halls, pool rooms and other places of amusement, and lodge meetings, are to be closed until further notice. All public gatherings consisting of ten or more are prohibited.”

Some years ago I had a business that sold farming equipment and sometimes I spent as much as a week in the Karoo. I just loved the silence out there and my favourite stop was between Fraserburg and Sutherland.
There I could easily spend an hour or more just enjoying the incredible silence without even one vehicle passing. I remember being there I always thought the world must have been something like that shortly after creation;

Many people say that 2019 was a difficult year and express the hope that 2020 will be much better. Others believe that 2020 may even be more chaotic than 2019.
But who knows what the New Year will hold?
Doris DaySeems to be an age old question because in 1956 Doris Day, in her song Que Sera already asked “What lies ahead?” and then answers “Whatever will be, will be, the future’s not ours to see.”
